Matara

The provincial capital of the Southern Province has very a spacious and lovely layout with many interesting things to explore.

Very special are for example the Mahapelessa (Madunagala) Hot springs, which are located a bit out of town.

Matara also prides a very fine Hospital, where friendly and capable doctors are taking care of patients from the entire region.

Every day many Matara citizens are coming out to enjoy these lovely Hot Springs, what is also some kind of a social gathering.

Also in Matara the Tuk Tuk and motor bike density is very high.

Some 60 kilometers behind Galle the Matara Express train stops on it's Southern route.
