Unawatuna 2007
An early 2007 highlight had brought the very important fishing minister of Sri Lanka to Unawatuna.
He came to celebrate the completion of the new Unawatuna Fishing Hall, which was built by the German "Langeoog hilft" charity Organization.
In fact the new building is a fine cooperation between the Sri Lankan government and traditional fisherman in Unawatuna and on the German island Langeoog.
Chief organizer Gerd from the Langeoog Guesthouse stood also for the cleaning of over 2.000 dwells.

The new Unawatuna Fishing Hall includes smartest architecture and even a solar energy system to ensure low maintenance costs and secure power supply for the nighttime lights that are giving better orientation for all the fisherman.
Very happy are in particular all those from remote areas who can now store their nets inside the 6 upper rooms instead of having to cover some fairly high transport fees.
