Some hours ago 14 Sinhalese Navy troops have been killed by an assault in the North what has inspired President Mahinda Rajapaksa to assemble the National Defense Council.

Unconfirmed sources report, that the assault had been some sort of revenge after a young Tamil girl had been gang raped and burnt near a Sinhalese army camp.

Shortly later the 71 years old Tamil politician Joseph Pararajasingham has been shot dead during a Christmas service at St Michael's Church in Batticaloa for so far unknown reasons.

However these two incidents are only the most recent ones that heat up the tensions between the Rajapaksa administration whose activities have done great damages to the overall state of the Island.
