Galle under attack

On October 18, 2006 the city of Galle had been taken by surprise when the Dakshina Navy base was attacked by an LTTE commando.

Two from a total of five rebel boats exploded near some navy vessels and two people were reported dead. 15 Tamil Tigers were shot according to Sri Lankan media.

Police, army and Navy troops had been extremely nervous after the incident as well as the population.

Also a curfew had been imposed to prevent further looting and attacks on Tamil stores which had started right after the attack.
